Steering shaft boot at firewall ripped

There are some items that I expect to last the life of the car this being one of them, has anyone suffered a similar failure and attempted to fix this? The boot is only a $35 part but to get at it is a job and a half as the shaft has to be taken out so that the boot with bearing can get slipped on. Are there any creative makeshift repairs that anyone come up with other than duct taping the boot? Too bad there is not a split boot kit available Dealer quoted about 3-4 hours of labour
i dont know about u but i had to make a scene...(as in i go crazy) i've done this at 2 tire places to get them to give me my money back..works everytime
i went to the dealer to for a cat replacement and they said its my supercharger bypass valve 3000 grand!!! hahahahahahhahh i couldnt help myself to laugh in his face
If there is any hole left you could patch over it with black silicone.
Good luck .
