Timing Chain
hi there,
i am new to this forum and its great to be here, seems like a good place to get answers to some queries....
i have a 2004 registration car c200 kompressor with 68000 miles on the clock. I was wondering does the timing chain needs changing at all or not ? MB says that it doesnt need changing as its suppose to last the lifetime of the car, however i am not convinced for some reason.

u r correct. mercedes likes breaking peoples cars.
sum people have had a chain jump at as early as 60k miles. i could have swore hogger said he didnt have a warning
if u have a metal chatter on startup and gets louder as rpm gets higher...then goes away after 10 seconds to a min

On the other hand, I fixed an oil seal on the timing cover in January and the car had 185,000 miles. We replaced the timing chain because we were that far in doing the seal, but it was tight and really didn't need a new chain.
