harmonic balancer tool
harmonic balancer tool
Getting ready to change the front crank seal on my 2002 Kompressor
C-230. ZDMAK tools offers a tool they call a counter holder, that holds the harmonic balancer stationary to loosen the crank nut. The description of the tool does not list my vechicle. Anyone have experience with this type of tool to remove the balancer. I have also seen the tools which lock the flywheel in place but the counter holder seems to be much easier for this repair, just not sure if the ZDMAK tool will work on my balancer. Any information would be greatly appreciated

I'm pretty sure that the ZDMAK is the exact same design as the pulley holder I have. It worked great with the factory pulley, not so great with the lightweight AMS pulley I put on (different profile on the face so the pins didn't penetrate the new pulley deeply enough). It should work just fine on any M112 or M113.
IIRC, the ZDMAK and all the others you can find online are just copies of the MB tool, just without replaceable pins.
You're probably aware of this, but just in case...don't forget that the crank bolt is torque-to-yield and SHOULD NOT be reused.
I can try to look up the MB tool part # on StarTek later if you'd like.

M111 engine then? In that case forget what I said lol. I found some pulley holders in a brief search that listed compatability for both M11 and M112, but they all only had 2 pins, not 3. I looked it up on StarTek, and it looks like you lock the whole rotating assembly with a tool that plugs in where your starter goes (?!?). Look at the attached, the tool in question's part # appears to be 602 589 00 40 00 hopefully this helps...
