Alarm doesn't sound but lights flash on activation
Hi
I have recently bought a 2005 C220 Sport Diesel and was testing the alarm.
I have found that the lights flash but the siren / alarm doesn't sound if the alarm is activated.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Steve

It may be your siren alarm has gone bad or perhaps has been disconnected. I'd check fuses as well. I believe there are 3 fuses related to the alarm on my US spec c240. Can't remember #'s for sure but from memory they are 9, 41 and ? but don't hold me to that.
Mine (alarm siren) recently went bad (common problem) and it got to a point where (during its slow death) it would either randomly go off or not at all-even when tripping the alarm.
The alarm siren has its own internal batteries that go bad and they will do weird things as it dies- Wonder if yours is toast or someone disconnected it due to it dying.
It's a ~$165 USD part that is plug and play. It's located behind the fender liner-front passenger side- rear part of the liner. Single 3 pin plug going to it.

Are talking about locking or unlocking the car or the actual alarm. Because in the states the sound doesn't make a noise when locking/unlocking. You have to have to switch it to Norway settings from a SDS for it to make a sound

I must have "netherlands" setting as my alarm gives 3 chirps when i lock, and one when i unlock.
FYI: My alarm siren recently went bad and after much unpredictable behavior, i replaced it. I now have the chirp back- which was lost as it/the alarm siren progressiviely went bad. As it went bad, it got to where it would not sound at all even if i tripped the alarm-just my lights would flash.

The actual alarm. I sat in the car and switched the alarm. After 2 mins (once everything which needs to be activated has been activated) I tried to open the door. The lights started flashing (indicating the alarm has been activated) but there was no sound / siren.

Had the same issue on mine, set off the alarm, lights no sound. Pulled the fuse to check it, and the loss of power to the siren reset it and set it off. Put the fuse back in and has worked fine ever since, well at least for the last three months. Pull your fuse, it may work for you too.
