Excessive Vibration in Steering Wheel over Rough Roads
I originally posted this message a couple days ago however it was lost due to server problems. I unfortunately did not get to see if there were any responses so I'm reposting.
I purchased a new 03 C240 in April & have had had the following problems from day 1. The dealership is unable to correct vibrations felt over 60mph on smooth roads. The car is also extremely out of alignment & pulls to the left. And the issue that I have the biggest problem with is Excessive feedback in the steering wheel over rough roads. This vibration is even felt while going over bumps in the road at 5+ mph. It's like there is no buffer between the highway & the steering wheel. The vibration is so sever that it can almost make your hands numb. The vibration is even worse when the steering wheel is pushed in all the way & locked back into place. Is it possibly due to faulty bushings. I've driven at least 7 other C240's & none exhibit this vibration. I chose the MB due to the way they drove. I guess I should have driven this car prior to doing the paperwork.
I'm beginning to assume the other problem with shaking above 60mph is due to bad tires, but I'm only going to focus on that problem after they correct the steering wheel issue. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I love the looks of my car, but absolutely hate driving it. I know it's not right inspite of what the Kansas City dealership says. I can't just learn to live with it.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Actually I'm only about an hour from the Topeka dealership. I'll give the Aristocrat in KC one more try on Tuesday & if not resolved then I'll try Topeka. I think that sometimes dealerships become too independent when they're the only one in a city. Sometimes competetition is a good thing.
Thanks for reply

Just a reminder -- someone in your original "lost" thread mentioned that there was a shock absorber in the steering column...he said his was damaged somehow and it caused a problem he thought was similar to yours. Not sure this is accurate, just mentioning it...
