A bucket on wheels
stick or auto?

after reading a post in generals on manual or auto, i decided to poll the board so if you would not mind,
if there was an option to have a manual tranny on all mercedes, would you have ordered your car with it? also please feel free to open this up for discussion if you feel mercedes should not make it an option or you wouldn't get a manual tranny.

i am going to average out the stats to see whats the majority's vote in mbworld

Went the auto but...

Australia is small market for cars (especially Benz) so although I was a manual (stick) driver all my life I chose the auto because resale value is absolutely shocking on manual Mercs in Oz.
And the tipshift ain't too bad anyhow.

I would've gotten the M3 if I wanted a manual transmission.

No offense to anyone, but I think if you want a better manual transmission BMW is the obvious choice.

I also regret getting my car with manual. Being stuck in traffic blows, but one thing is for sure it's a lot funner to drive the coupe with a stick, and also saves on gas.

but my next car will be automatic:o

Seeing as how the c class is as close to a luxury car as it is a Porsche, I'd say that a manny is a good choice.

For the 230, a slushbox just doesn't cut it, imho. Shouldn't fun be considered?

It's a matter of preference and I like rowing through the gears. There are times I wish I had an automatic but then if I got the automatic there would be times I wish I had the manual

Yes, as I'm not left foot impared. When I'm 80 or so, maybe I'll switch to the "stop/go" car speed controls.

I got the stick and do not regret it. To the contrary I think luxury cars and perfect with a stick. If I could get an E500 with a stick shift I would (and if I could afford it! :o )

I would not have considered the C-coupe if it did not come with a stick. I couldn't care less about the supposed luxury lineage of the car. I don't even care that it is an MB unless it means it will still be running after other makes are rusting in their graves.

For me, it's all about the fun of driving and smiles per dollar. The closest I've come to auto heaven in many a year was driving my (manual stick!!) C-coupe through the French Alps for a few sunny days.

I diden't vote since its 50/50 right now, but i would have picked my coupe in a 6 speed if i had a choice. I wanted it sooooo bad but i did not have any patience.

The auto is not bad though, by far the best auto i have seen or drivin.

I think the stick on the C is nogt great and I choose the auto. Road and Track said that they would choose the auto too for the first time they remember over the stick.

It's really which one you like to drive.

Cheers,

Beth
