Hi, I have a 2002 mercedes c230 coupe.

For some reason the left turn signal on the driver side assembly no longer works.

I was told by two different people that I ought to replace the entire assembly. The problem is that most resellers do not distinguish between the kompressor coupe and the 4 door sedans/wagons.

The lights look the same, but are not cross compatible.

So, I need to find a place to buy a new assembly. If anyone here has the original oem driver side assembly for the coupe, I may be willing to purchase it, otherwise I will have to drop 500 bucks to replace both of them with some Halo after markets (which are the only ones I could find on the internet)

search ebay, have you check to see if its the bulb socket that is messed up? are the bulbs blowing after you install them?

At some point in my car's life I had that problem.
The bulb holder which is sort of a screw in plastic holder, like 1/2 turn.
The contacts for the bulb's power comes through contacts on the side of the holder, that contact corresponding contacts in the inside of the circumference of the main assembly.

The dealer had a retrofit kit which bypassed the power on the sides, and has wires going directly to the holder.

That worked great, and you can probably find a retrofit kit at the dealer, though mine were frosties.

BUT years later, I swapped my headlights with another member, I took the BIx, and he took my old frosties.
Oops Forgot about the retrofit thing.
So I had to take the headlight out, and looking it over what had happened was the plastic had melted in the between the contacts and was preventing contact.
I scraped away the melted plastics, and thoroughly cleaned the contacts, and then it worked fine. Good thing, since the Bix were already installed in my car.

So point being, check wth the dealer to see if there is a retrofit kit, and then otherwise, you might pull the assembly out and use a voltmeter/ ohmeter to check for continuity and see where the problem is.
Worked for me.

Excuse me if I sound retarded, but what are these bix's you speak of, also, are these retrofit kits available online? If not, how much does the dealer charge for them?

Ok, I think that I will remove the bumper and then the assembly and then try to clear the contacts.

Is it hard to do the above on your own?
