new wheels coming

well, i just ordered a set of new wheels everyone. although i was planning on getting 19's, the price was just too high at the moment and not to mention the fact that my tires are almost new. i ordered a set of 18" x 8" 3-piece ROH Modena rims with titanium centre finish and polished lip. i originally saw the wheels in some pics and i thought that they were nothing special. when i went to the tire shop and he mounted it on my car, they were just meant to be. the price was pretty high for a set of 18's, but they are very light weighing in at only 18lbs per rim. here is a pic of them (again, the pic does no justice of it). delivery time is 4 weeks as they are all custom made..... no more hub rings.

They seem cool. Will await the "Final" pic when you get them.

nice wheels... and 18lbs each is definitely a plus... dam my 30lb ///AMGs... sigh

you should have taken pics of the wheel when the shop had them on your car... just to see how it looks at least...

yeah, you're right. to be honest, the pic looks like crap. i was hesitant on the way there to see actuall what they looked like. when mounted, i couldn't resist. and, with my future amg brake upgrade, they'll look great together. damn, 4 weeks is a long time to wait (sigh!!!).

Wheel looks good dark as your car is black(right?). MAKE SURE you get enough clearance for the front brakes as you dont want to go back and put spacers after you install the AMG kit.

yeah, i was specific to let the guy know that i have a c240 with c32 front brakes. he said that he will let the manufacturer know that they must be able to fit a c32. is there a specific offset and backspacing that i should tell him?

well, after 8 months of waiting, i finally got my rims mounted earlier today. here's the scoop:

i originally ordered the wheels in august 2003. in november, i was informed by my tire shop that they wheels had been shipped a month ago from ROH and that DHL express had "mislocated" the wheels... in other words someone who works there stole them. so off goes in another order for the same set of wheels, this time 18x8 front, 18x9 rear. february comes along and they arrive. test fit them and the fronts were for a stock c class, NOT one with c32 front brakes as was stated in the order. well, turns out ROH made the front to fit c36 brakes by mistake. oh well, another month to wait for the fronts. two months pass and the tire shop informs me that the did not currently have a mold for a c32 so they had to make one. and they were since it cost them close to 100 grand. wow, i felt special since the rims only cost me 3 grand. of well. anyways, today they arrived and were mounted.

my impression: although it took a while i could not be happier with not only the look, but quality and craftsmanship of the rims. they are true, 3 piece, custom-made and i am officially the first in north america to have them on a c class with c32 brakes (basically, a c32 amg). so, 100 grand later and 8 months passed i am very happy with the result and would recommend these rims and ROH to anyone. i spoke to the head engineer there (they're in australia) twice and he was a real gentleman. he assured me that customer service was on the top of their list and infact, they proved themselves. hey, would you spend that kind of money on a single mold, or just tell the customer to screw off? obviously, they did the right thing and i respect them for it. the ROH rep for north america works at my tire shop and he was awesome aswell. helped me out and all turned out well. anyways, sorry for the novel everyone.

i will post pics probably on sunday. the front has practically no lip whereas the rear is about 2.5". let me know what you all think. antonio.

I normally see those wheels on locally made Holden cars ... its a bit strange to see those on a W203 but its a very nice combo ... do you mind telling us how much you paid for those wheels?
I think your tyre sidewalls are a tad too thick....what size tyres are you running?
