Shift knob replacement
Hey guys.. My shift knob has seen its day. The top silver part (6spd) has come off so I ordered a new shift knob to replace it. my question is how do I do it? I looked on the aftermarket thread for it but its soooo damn old. No pictures on the install are showing. And the only ones that do show is for an auto. So any help on doing this would be appreciated. (Pictures, good explination, link to check out) I don't wanna rip up the center for no reason. Thanks Guys.

Phister. I think thats the same as pre face lift. Atleast sounds the same. Is the gaiter the shift boot I'm guessing? I'm gonna try it now and see how it works

yeah there almost the same as the pre just the knobs a little different. youll have to give the knob a good yank to pull it up. the post doesnt have notch/groove to lock in. think i have a picture of mine with the knob off when I did the custom thread to put a different knob on.

Bro.. You don't know the bull**** it was for me to yank it off. I was ripping at it for about 15 minutes.. I finally get it. I couldnt get the knob off the clip. So I broke the knobs clips to get it off the ring.. Then my new shift knob is universal and the plugs were all to small. so i took masking tape and wrapped it around the shaft till it was thick enough to put the knob on. I got it on perfectly snug and tight. It feels amazing. but the bs to do a shiftknob.. Took me 2 minutes when I did it on my Z..

W203 prefacelift
Hie guys l have a basic question, l recently purchased a 2003 6SP manual it's in good condition save for a few fixable issues but the one thing that's sticking out is the shifter knob and boot. So my lay mind wants to think that i can replace the 6sp knob with a facelift shift knob but my other mind is saying to ask the forums first before I do anything as there seems to be not much information available on that topic.

I have a 2005 "Face lift" model, and I had a similar problem with my shifter. This thread shows a shifter that works on the face lifted W203s
The company that sells the shifter I bought had many different products available. They have one available for the pre-face lift model
Good luck with your car and welcome to the forum.

W203 shifter knob
Thanks for the swift reply. I'm in a different part of the world hence my curiosity. All the dealers in my area have the facelift boot and knob in stock. I wanna know if the facelift can fit on a pre-facelift and vice versa.
