2005 c-class coupe
2005 c-coupe

Hi everyone. I've been a lurker on this forum for quite some time now.
I figured I would finally introduce myself and share some pics of my car. My name is Steve and my car is a 2005 c230 Kompressor coupe, which I factory ordered and have owned since new.

In the last few years I decided to personalize my car by doing a few modifications such as:
Birds Eye Maple Wood trim install
Leather steering wheel
CLC (staggered sport) 18 inch wheels
H&R Sport Springs
AMG Rear spoiler
AMG Rear Bumper Cover
Evolution Rear Exhaust.

Thanks!

Very clean-looking coupe, love the wheels! Do you have the specs/offsets/etc. for them?

Nice to see another coupe owner on here, even if you are Canadian.

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it.
The front wheels are 18x7.5 ET36
The rear wheels are 18x8.5 ET30
The wheels are made by BBS for Mercedes.

I'm going to be a pest & bug you with more questions.

What tire sizes are you running with the wheels? Any fitment issues at all (e.g. need spacers, longer wheel bolts, compatible with bigger brakes on W203 Sport model, etc.)?

Hi Steve,

Do you mind sharing some info on the trim - where did you get it/how much did it run?

No problem! I'll try and answer your questions as best I can.

The front tires are a 225/40/18 and the rears are a 255/35/18.
No spacers were required and I'm using the stock wheel bolts.

These rims came on the the 203 chassis CLC, which wasn't available in North America, so fitment isn't an issue. You should be o.k. for clearing the bigger brakes. I had to special order them from Germany through my local Mercedes Benz dealer as MB Canada hadn't had them in their system at the time of ordering them.

Hi VVF.
I purchased the wood trim from my local MB dealer. My car came originally with the lighter coloured aluminum trim (pictured below).
I never really cared for it and always wanted to do something a little different. I liked how the optional birds eye maple trim looked on the sedans, so I ended up ordering the pieces for my coupe. Retail pricing on the parts came to approx $520.00 Canadian for all 4 pieces. I work in the automotive trade so I got a discount off of that price. I also had the dealer install the pieces, as I didn't want to take the chance of damaging anything. (labour was approx 2 hrs total for re and re.)

Black leather shift knob? My car came with black birds-eye maple trim & aluminum shift knob. Thanks for the info on tires & fitment, btw!

Hi SlashW203. You're welcome regarding the wheel info. I hope I was of some help.
Unfortunately my shift knob isn't leather... It's plastic with a vinyl boot.

It's what came on the none evolution/base coupe as well as the plastic steering wheel. This picture was taken before my wood trim and leather steering wheel which I had installed last year. Eventually I'd like to install a black leather knob, but I can't find one that I really like the look of.

I like the style of the OEM shift knob (aluminum or plastic) and was wondering if they made it in a leather version. Trying to stay OEM with my ride for now.

I found some knobs that seem to be a combination of leather and aluminum, as well as just leather. Like you, I would prefer to stay with OEM as well.

Does your aluminum knob have the shift pattern on the top or is it the Mercedes star?

Shift pattern on top. The aftermarket shift knobs I've seen require you to cut the leather boot off the original knob & fit it to the new knob. Not brain surgery but I'm after an OEM (or close) plug-n-play solution. Below is an example:
