2005 C230K Suspension Questions
I have my 2005 C230K stock and am finally getting around to its preventive maintenance and upgrades. I've tried searching around for the answers to these questions but its hard because its isolated to my year.
Is the 2005 C230K suspension the same as the AMG suspension of the same year?
I've heard that Koni Yellows (sports) are softer than the AMGs. My car is soft. Way too soft, it wallows around. I would like it be a little more responsive. I have Koni Yellows on other cars and am quite pleased with the performance. Good valving and adjustability. On my Cooper S, my ride got better (smoother) with the Konis than stock, but definitely firmed things up. I'm unsure if the poster whom made that "softer than AMGs" statement intended to mean that they were less sporty but thats how I took it. Any insight here is appreciated. And if my C230K suspension is not that same as the AMGs, then a comparison between mine and Konis would be great as well.
Regarding lowering springs, I'm just straight confused. I know I'm lower than other W203s, but I dont know if I am the lowest regarding all models. The lowering springs available seem generic across the board and I'm unsure if they will actually do anything for me. I've seen H&R, Carlsson, Vogtland, Tein, and Eibachs readily available. I dont need autocross performance springs rates as this is just a daily as still says Mercedes on it - so I'd like it to drive like one. Do any of those available springs actually drop my car from where am at? And do any of them maintain a comparable spring rate to my stock springs?
I dont know what the number pads mean. I see them referenced and have an idea, but if someone can put it to bed that would be great. I'm referring to the "... I put #4 pads on the rear" or something like that.
Thanks for the help guys!
then upgrade the front and rear sway bars
then make sure your whole front suspension balljoints and bushings are good
