Recommended break-in? Fuel type?
Can't wait to pick up my new baby on Thursday (Orion/C5/C7/6-speed manual)....
Just wondering if there's an official MB reccommendation on how to break in the engine. I've heard a lot of conflicting info about how to do this on the board.
Also, is 91 Octane gas OK to use on a regular basis (if I leave the computer settings at default), or is it necessary to use 93?
Thanks...
2. Aviod heavy loads on the engine (full throttle and high rpm's)
3. Do not use engine braking.
4. after 1000 miles speeds may be gradually increased to the permitted maximum.
The latter shouldn't be a problem as legal speeds are well under 3000 rpm's in sixth.
91 octane is the minimum to use with the default settings. My car only gets 93.
2) Breaking in an engine is like breaking in a horse (or a woman for that matter) if you treat it to gently or too roughly it will kick back.
3) Give it some *****. Rev it to red line at least once daily. It's a 4 banger let it act like one.
4) This can all be taken with a grain of salt. If blow the engine I don't mind replacing it tomorrow. Money is not that important to me. I pride myself in keeping the economy going.
5) All salesman be warned, I am armed.
