Problem with Digital Climatronic Install
I bought a climatronic unit on ebay a couple weeks ago. I received it in the mail 2 days ago and went to install it yesterday. Now I know that these units working arent ever a 100% guarantee but the seller stated that he 100% guaranteed them to work. My question is... How do you know when the unit is not compatible with your car? Because my unit wont power on at all. I put in the regular analog and it'll light up however this one does not have any of the ambient lighting. Is there a reset of some kind that I have to do after I plug it in?

The part you bought is only switches that communicate with the SAM on the canBUS. On some cars a climatronic will never work. On some it can work if you change the SAM. On some model years it will work on some cars and not on others. There is no way to tell if it will work. There are also differences in assemblies, such that even if you have a C320, with climatronic, it might not work.
I get the feeling that the factory used different software during the model runs to use climatronic SAM's on C240's to use over production of feature rich SAM's.

I have posted a bunch on this topic in this and the C55 forum.
The above post is very correct on what was happening in Sindelfingen at the time...The climatronic units are VIN and DATE CODE specific. You will need to really search EPC to ensure the part number will work. (and even then...I have read it may not work...)
