Key hole covers
Hey Benzo-
Quick, possibly dumb question. Did you paint the handles? It looks like the IR sensor to the rear of the handle is also painted. Does that effect the remote window open close?
TIA

Those are the stock plastic handles no paint.
To make the center caps I had to remove the front piece on my aftermarket cap so I had a base to adhere to. Then I purchased new Hood ornaments since they are smaller and glued them to the snap in piece. The MB standard caps are quite abit bigger.

The lock plugs are fun/cute. We have them on our ML, but not the C. It's fun to add stupid litttle accessories to the car.
I have the MB logo valve covers and replaced the stock centercaps with the Wreath & Laurel design. It's just something to look at while cleaning all the brake dust off .

Lookin' Good!
Hi Benzo!
Your car looks very nice. I just have one question.
In that first photograph of the door handle, it looks as though the concave part of the handle is all scratched up? Is this just a reflection of the concrete? Or, are you actually benzomonterey scissorhands?
Just wondering!

I haven't waxed the car recently but they do buff right out. The weather here is total hell on keeping the car clean. I live 300 feet off the water and the car looks like crap about four hours after it is washed. That is my main reason to get a car cover quickly.

Wow!
I didn't seriously think that they would actually be scratches!
How did that happen? Does black really scratch that easily? That is terrible that it does that!
From other pictures I've seen of your car, it looks beautiful anyway! Very sleek and slick in black.
I was thinking of getting black, but I've heard way too many negative comments on it, and am definately going for brilliant silver now.

If I could do it all over I would consider
Desert Silver
or Citron. But I am bizzare that way.

Speaking of waxing I just received my Free Detailing Kit from meguiars yesterday for winning the virtual car show.
Nice selection of cleaning products.
You guys should enter your cars.

Black is the coolest color; I shied away from it because of the summer heat, and because I'd have to wash it every day, and I'm soooo lazy.

As we've noted, the new paints just don't stand up to most any type of contact. I had a '99 white Passat whose paint I babied, waxed, etc. Normally no scratches could be seen, but on closer inspection, if the sun was just right, I was shocked to see scratches everywhere. I remember thinking "I'm glad it's a light color". My C240 looks worst when it's in my garage and light hits it obliquely through the window. When it's outside it's much better. Just remember to always clean/dry/buff etc. longitudinally, not in circles, to minimize the appearances of the fine scratches.

Benzo, how difficult is are the plugs to remove? Just wondering because sometimes I use the valet key for the trunk, and i'm assuming that the driver side key hole will be used in case the battery in my key dies.
