C Class Radio Beeps
Last night I left the cassette door down and after 10 seconds or so the radio started beeping in 2 second intervals for about 10 beeps then shuts the volume off till you close the tape door.
So with that you couldn't use a cassette adaptor even if you wanted to.
They want us to spend $$$ on that disc changer badly.

LOL! Actually this beeping is outlined in the manual. I don't know why it's set up to do this. I agree it is annoying.
In past posts, some have said they intended to use their cassette adapters anyway, and close the door around the wire, although the clearance appears to be very small. But no one ever replied back with results, so we don't know how it works.
Let us know if you can get it to work, guy!

I tried a Sony adaptor last night. I could find no way to shut the door on the wire without tweaking the door. So I am not going to push it. I actually just wanted to use the portable cd till I get the other one put in.

We have used a cassette adapter in our car. We did manage to close the door with the wire sticking out, but only did that once. It was very hard to get the door open again. After that, i took a hard piece of plastic and carved it so that it would depress the button that the casette door does. It holds itself in place by wedging in front of the existing tab on the cassette door.
It's hard to describe, but simple to do.
I wrapped it in black electrical tape to give it some extra grip and make it less obvious when it is in place. We don't use it much, just for road trips when the laptop is playing movies.
Hope that helps?

Tape adaptor
When I test-drove a C230K, I took my MP3 jukebox with me. I plugged it into the head unit using a cassette adaptor. I was able to get the door to close by leaving the wire from the cassette adaptor sticking out at the top left. It didn't look like it was putting any strain on the door.
Hope that helps!

While we are at it, what is the red blinking light on the radio when it is turned off? Is that the radio security code thing?

try bottom right hand corner of the cassette door. also, make sure you "bend" the wire so it's as flat as possible and parallel to the door (when closed). the beeps should go away.
if you have problems ejecting, just tug on the wire!

I bought a $10 Phillips cassette adapter from Walmart, worked great.
But used the bottom left corner to fit the cord, because theres a small little gap.

so this beeping is because the casset door thinks its open? because my radio does this every so often and the previous owner got his casset player stuck and since last week the casset that is stuck keeps making this buzzing/clicking sound like as if its trying to eject every time i turn my car on/off i tried looking at the manual that i downloaded but it never tells me how to take out the casset if its stuck, also i am afraid if i try to pry it open that i may break something and thats very bad
does anyone know how to open it without breaking it and possible post a picture for someone who i very new to a mercedes?

SOLUTION
so the reason the stereo beeps is because the wire is in the way right?
but who says you need to have a wire to be able to connect your phone/mp3 to your benz your welcome
http://www.ohgizmo.com/2008/05/15/bl...sette-adapter/
i have this for my 04 CLK55 and it works like a charm!...you have to recharge every 5 hours or so, so for road trips bring a usb charger, but for local trips it works really well...and you wont have to deal with the dreaded Benz Beep because no wire will interfere with closing the cassette door!!!
hoped this helped a lil

Mine was beeping without any extraneous equipment involved. Here's how to fix it: Open the cassette player door. There is a little tiny button on the upper right side of the panel behind the door. Chances are that when the door is closed it is not pressing hard enough against this censor so the radio thinks the door is still open. I solved this with a 1/8" square of thick paper and a small thin slice of electrical tape. Stick the paper to the middle of the slice of tape, and carefully position the paper "plug" over the sensor button [little rectangle of tape should be oriented with tallest sides vertical]. Stick the tape down. Now when the door closes it will make contact and there you go! No more beeping and the cassette player still operates. It's close tricky work, but tweezers, nail scissors, paper and electrical tape are all that is required. (And glasses!)
