actually last year MB sold somewhere between 7-9 thousand coupes (i have lost the link for last years sales numbers) but that is in line with/slightly better then expected.
this year mercedes has sold:
C Sedan
january 02: 3,199
january 01: 2,345
C coupes
january 02: 1,052
CLK
january 02: 1,767
january 01: 1,371
thats not particularly bad numbers.
i wouldnt say mercedes has struck gold with the coupe, but it has added a strong entry level hook for their product lineup.
and they finally unloaded all those 230k engines they had laying around!!!
