Aftermarket Head Unit Verification

Hey guys,

Tried doing the AUX solder DIY last night. Got everything working then accidentally ripped one of the wires off which pulled the board off. So now it's time to get a new head unit.

I did my research and found some old resources and wanted to verify/clarify before I order everything.

First off, I've got 2001 C320 with Bose setup but no navigation.

I'll be following this guide for reference: http://www.marcusfitzhugh.com/CLK/DIY/headunit2.html

And to hook the head unit up, I'll need the following parts:
1.
Amazon.com: Metra 99-8710 Single DIN Installation Kit for 2001-2004 Mercedes C-Class: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Metra 99-8710 Single DIN Installation Kit for 2001-2004 Mercedes C-Class: Car Electronics
2.
Amazon.com: Metra 71-1784 Reverse Wiring Harness for Select 1980-2005 Volkswagen Vehicles OEM Radio: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Metra 71-1784 Reverse Wiring Harness for Select 1980-2005 Volkswagen Vehicles OEM Radio: Car Electronics
3.
Amazon.com: Metra 40-VW12 VW Antenna Adapter: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Metra 40-VW12 VW Antenna Adapter: Car Electronics

If I want steering wheel controls, I'll get the PAC SWI stuff, but I think I'm going to opt out of that for now unless you guys think it's crucial (speed sensor, etc)

Does this look right? Everyone, including Crutchfield likes to make a big deal about putting aftermarket head units in this vehicle. Like that the entire system is fiber, or that you have rewire all the speakers/amps. I don't believe this.

Thanks

THE C350
Crutchfield is right the radio sends the signal over fiber to the Bose amp in the trunk where all the speaker wire is run to. So to put in an aftermarket radio you would either have to run new wire to the wires at the amp or to each speaker from the radio. Also remember Bose speakers do not play nice with any other system so the speakers should be replaced as well as they run at 2ohm.
Remember to search this has been discussed many times on here and as the 01 is over 12 years old now pretty much anything and everything that can be done to the car is on here if you search for it.
Good luck with you install I would find a DIY guide specificity for the w203 as the clk looks to have the older system installed.
