2003 C240 Wont Start

Strange issue going on.

First I am very disappointed with this car. It has 65k miles on it and the tranny had to be rebuilt in February. Things have seemed to be going okay since then until last week.

Went to start the car and it kept turning over but wouldn't start. I came on here and found out it could possibly be the fuel pump. I tested the valve on the fuel rail and had zero pressure. So I took the back seat out and then opened the compartment up and disconnected the 2 electrical connectors on it. I then put the key in the ignition and turned the car to the on position. I heard a whining noise from under the hood. I then took the key out connected the electrical connectors back onto the fuel pump and then put the key back in. I heard the fuel pump kick in and the car started no problem.

Two weeks later driving the car and the drivers side passenger window decides it would just drop into the door. (separate issue).

After going into the store and then coming back out the car would not start again. I did the same steps as mentioned above and the car started for me again.

A week later (this morning actually) the same thing happened and I did the same thing and it started for me no problem.

So I am now trying to determine if it is in fact the fuel pump or the relay that is bad. What do you guys think. And sometimes when this happens I do have pressure at the rail. Sometimes I do not.

The back window - Guess I will have to take the door apart and fix that but my main concern is the fuel issue.

Wow only 65k and needed a new transmission? Was the fluid changed every 39k miles and was your car affected by the bad valeo radiators that leaked coolant into the transmission oil? That said the transmission in your car is extremely reliable and I think you are the first person i have heard of having a failure under 100k except for the contamination cars. My 722.6 has very close to 200,000 miles no issue and there are many others on here like myself.
Moving on to your fuel issue have you tested the relay or check for power at the pump when your car won't start? If you haven't maybe changing out the relay would be a cheap diagnostic tool if you don't want to mess around with a volt meter yet.
finally have you changed the fuel filter recently? If not it is probably time as the car is now 10 years old.
How much pressure is at the rail when you get pressure but no start? Because if you are getting fuel and no start a very common issue is the CPS sensor.

The window probably just needs this http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Mercedes-W203-Window-Regulator-Installation-Kit-2037200114-/321150833242?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ac614d25a&vxp=mtrthe plastic gets old and breaks. The new mount is rubber and metal instead of plastic and a metal screw and seems to hold the window much better.

Thanks for your reply. Yes it was the Valeo radiator and it failed sending fluid into the tranny. The radiator was also replaced. Fluids are done on schedule. Last service the fuel filter was replaced. I forgot which service it was. I think I will go with the relay for now and see what happens. This is a cheap route to go for now.

Sorry to hear about that as I know it is expensive. That said you should now have a drivetrain good for another 200,000 miles easy.
Make sure to let us know if the relay fixes it.

One other thing to mention is that we have seen some bad fuel filters on here that can cause issues with fuel pressure so that may need to be looked into. That said the fuel filters I have heard about having issues were not Mercedes branded I think they were Mann or Bosch or something.

By the way - that relay is in the trunk correct? I think it is the 4th one down?
