Audio system

Hi Folks,
My car is 2005 c230k US version, I want to upgrade my audio system.
The current audio system doesn't have screen and CD only.
I bought a audio system from internet. When I tried to replace the system,I figure the connector is not match to my car. Does anyone run into the same problem or there is an adapter solution??

Welcome to the forum.

First the sound from the unit you bought will be exactly the same as the sound from your stock unit. There will be no upgrade as far as how it sounds.

The COMAND unit you purchased is a Japan opt 529 unit. Both AM/FM will not work properly, the weather band is missing, and navigation discs are not available except for Japan. Various sellers have adapters to add a COMAND to a US car, and one might be cobbled to fit your car. Unless you are in Japan it would be a fruitless effort.

US version COMAND units are made by Alpine, European units are made by Harmon/Becker, and Japanese market units are made by Panasonic.

MY 2005 was the year Mercedes changed the optical fiber network from D2B to MOST. I am not sure which protocol your HU (headunit) has, but your car has MOST. The two are not interchangeable.

Thanks for your feedback, guys.
After google it, I know the AM/FM function wouldn't work in my region but DVD should work, right? Can you advise where I can get the adapter for adding a COMMAND to a US car?

I do not think there is a DVD player in the unit. I believe the design used a CD player in the unit and the NAV discs for Japan were CD based. To play video, a trunk mounted player was available. In Japan a lot of people used the video input to have Nintendo or Playstation installed. Playstation of course had a DVD player built in. The DVD player for Japan would only play region 2 disc's for Europe, Middle East, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Greenland, French Overseas departments and territories.

NAFTA units from Alpine had a drop down front that had a DVD player behind it, but was only for NAV discs. The Video in motion is not allowed in the USA with a screen forward of the rear of the driver's seat. I am unsure if the region flag was set in those players.

I too have a us spec 2005 c230k. after much research i decided to go with a US spec Command Unit as things would 'just work' i also have the Logic 7 premium sound system. the japanese and uk versions have various things that will not work in the us (as mentioned by Moviela). i think the video input is the only feature i would want from those units (and maybe RDS). oh yeah i think the dvd drive is just for nav discs, not video dics.
