Oil Level Warning
I got a oil level warning yesterday (it went away and didn't come back). However when I checked the oil level via computer it told me to add 2 qts (and it went down to 1.5 qts when I parked in my garage for longer period). When I checked the level via dip stick it was about 1/4 or 1/5 over min level (still between min and max althought it was low). My car has over 17,000 miles and I never had this warning before. I will take in to dealer on Monday however anyone experience this ? What is your oil consumption? Can I still drive in this condition (to work and to the dealer)? It doesn't seem like leaking (I covered my garage floor with white papaers and there weren't any oil droppings).

oil consumption
Has the oil ever been changed yet? If so, at what mileage? Surely you don't have 17,000 miles on the original oil....
Oil consumption of under 0.25 L (half pint) per 1000 km (621 miles) would be entirely normal and acceptable.
Sure, drive it to the dealer, or top up the oil yourself and record the amount. No problem either way.

i've had something similar happen. i was just checking the oil level via the MFD, and it said 1.5 qts low. i thought it was odd that i didn't get some kind of error. checked with dipstick, and sure enough, it was at minimum. took it to dealership, and they topped it off. turned out that at my service A, not enough oil was added. so it's possible that at service a, the improper amount of oil was added and the sensor didn't catch it until now. they can be shady that way.

Out Of Control!!
Well, one good thing is that your oil level indicator is working properly. Thanks for small miracles!
The obvious answer is "add more oil", since you're clearly on the very low end of acceptable.
All cars burn some oil; because ours have the long time between changes, it just shows up more, law of averages.
Contact your dealer if you must, but I'd just add more oil until your level is fine, and move on with your life. It shouldn't be a big concern. Hell, I've been adding oil since I picked up the car - to register a "problem", you have to be burning oil like there's no tomorrow.
