CD Player - Does anyone know?
Does Mercedes have an optional cd player without having the voice command? Cuz I find it strange that you have to spend 2k just to get an in dash cd player through Mercedes. Or is that only for class( more specific C230K)

CD Changer
According to the option list I just checked on, the K2 and the K2a options are the only way to get the CD CHanger as a factory option. Of course this includes the phone (K2) and the voice recognition module (K2a) ... Many dealers will add the CD Changer on alone as a dealer installed option. This is something that can be done after delivery as well.

The only way, in the United States, that you can get an in dash cd player is with the COMAND navigation system. With the K2 package you get a Motorola phone and the cd changer in the glove box. The K2a package adds voice command.
It was previously posted that it may be possible to purchase a new head unit with a cd player from a dealer in the UK and have it installed here.
The six disk changer can be purchased from and installed by your dealer.

The other option is to require (not request) a Stereo Delete and install your own system. A few people typed about that, but I don't think anyone followed through. The drawbacks, of course, are that you lose the functionality of the steering wheel controls, and it's only covered by the stereo manufacturers warranty.
Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) "claims" to have a "plinth" that will match the curve of the console to allow installation, but they balked as soon as I mentioned the fiber optic path...I didn't bother to ask about steering wheel controls, as by that time, it was obviously a moot point.

Well, notwithstanding the other replies, mine has the 6 CD changer in the glove box. I don't have COMAND or voice control, nav system, phone, etc. I do have the Bose premium sound system.
