Camshaft position sensor
Hi guys, would like to know if a camshaft position sensor from the us designed for a 2005 c230K (w203, m271) would work for a 2005 C180K sport (w203, m271) from the Uk? hopefully someone can provide assistance.

I want to say that they are the same but i don't know enough to be able to guarantee this. From what I've read, the M271 in the C180 is the same as the one in the C230 except for the fuel/timing maps being more restrictive and also if I remember right there is also something with the compression ratio of the pistons and the pulley on the s/c but other than that the engines are the same. Logic would dictate that there is a strong possibility that they are... hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in soon... Good Luck!

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
AB Elektronik (Hella) makes the sensor for Mercedes. The 271 and 112 engines I know both use the same sensor in the USA. It is a two pin type with Mercedes part number A003-153-28-28. Check with your UK dealer to confirm the part number. In the USA you can buy the AB Elektronik sensor for $40.50 from Pelican Parts.

thanks for the responses guys, i'm from Saint Lucia by the way (small island in the caribbean) and imported the car from england about 3 weeks ago. When I got the vehicle there was a CEL light on, hooked it up to a scan tool and got an error code for the MAF sensor (cant remember the code now) but continued driving it. A week ago it refused to start, it cranks, tries to start but nothing. hooked it up to the scan tool again and got a P0341 - camshaft position sensor. So now i need these two sensors. The thing is from the UK the price of these sensors are crazy 157 and 304 pounds respectively from the dealers. I realised they're cheaper in the US but wasnt sure if they were compatible. But the good news is i had a friend call a mercedes benz dealership in england and asked them if they were compatible and he said yes so I'm looking to get them from the US.

BTW, just to be sure - check the connections to camshaft magnets on the front of the engine (disconnect the connectors and check for signs of oil).
I could be that they are leaking and messing with the ECU.
