Removable Hood Star
Anyone know if there is a removable hood star yet for the W203 body style. When I say removable, I am referring to the one where you simply can pull directly up to remove it. Comes in quite handy when parking in unsupervised parking lots. Had one stolen from my older car & unfortunately suffered scratches on grill. I know they have been available on older models.

I dont quite get it. If its so easily removable, then everyone can pull it out, I just think the chances of losing that will be much higher than our current ones. At least for our current ones, one has to use a pair of ultra-sharp sissors to chop it off. Maybe you should get a flat hood emblem instead.

i don't think they exist... unless you fabricate one yourself...
hmm... the new rolls royce phantom has a similar feature though, the front "lady" emblem would retract into the hood automatically if tempered with... hrhrhr... but then again, that car costs about 10x more expensive... sigh...

BINGO! Tifosiv122 found exactly what I was looking for. But doesn't look like they have one yet for the W203 body. Oh well, I'll just wait. I believe these would also be great if going thru the car washes with the spinning chamois. You could simply remove it prior to entering. Had considered doing the flat emblem, but I just like looking over the hood & seeing the hood star.
Thanks for the replies!

Oops, I knew I'd get a response with the carwash & chamois. I only run my car through this when absolutely necessary to remove salt in the winter. I do actually try to wash by hand in evenings to avoid water spotting. But winters here can be quite nasty & I figure it's better to run through car wash vs. leaving salt on car. Believe it or not but the car wash I use w/ the spinning chamois is quite decent. They seem to keep the chamois in good clean condition. I haven't taken my new C240 through it yet though. I'll wait till the newness wears off.

Sorry, I'm more **** than most. At least try to find a good hand carwash. No telling what that chamios picked up from the car before yours! Kind of like modern sex. You're not just sleeping with your patner. You're sleepig with everyone they've slept with.

my dad had those on his old 86 300SEL. You just remove it and put it into the car when you parked the car, so people can't just take'em. It's also better when you forgot to remove it because the thieft can just take the star with ease without damaging your hood or your grill.
