Rebirth of the Silver Surfer

Hi guys, I've finally made some headway with my first project so I decided to share it with you all. I got my 04 c240 4matic last year May and she's been through so much in just a year. I'm upstate at Syracuse University and the winters are BRUTAL; So pulling into the parking lot one day she slid on some black ice and the front bumper was mangled along with the power steering and washer fluid boxes, then this summer I got t-boned by an elderly lady that ran a red light and needed two new doors. So after all of this I figured I'd treat her to a whole new body kit and fresh paint job along with some other goodies.

Don't know how they came out sideways :/ But the first round of mods I did were the AMG body kit (thanks Gary), Spyder Black Housing Halo Projector Headlights, Smoked S-Class LED Tails, LED DRLs, CF spoiler, CF front lip, Eisenmann Exhaust, Debadged and some 18" Staggered Mandrus Milleniums. Let me know what you guys think and any suggestions/comments are well appreciated thanks!

I think I'm cursed when it comes to cars smh. On my way back to Jersey from Syracuse this morning I slid on some slush and ended up fishtailing into the middle grass area between northbound and southbound. I would've went head-on into the divider but I managed to regain control but not before knocking over two mile markers.

So now I ask you all for advice on what should I do; Try to repair or just cut my losses, total her and possibly move on to an 05 c55?

The most important thing is to figure out what you really want and what you can afford. You're not going to get nearly enough for the c55.
I'm confused, though - are you going through insurance or not? That would be key.

I have to ask - what kind of tires are you using?

Pirelli P4 All Seasons, guess it was just a freak accident because the roads are most slippery during the first few minutes of snowfall and that's when it happened. Just happy I didn't end up like the UPS semi skidding off into the woods.

Haha I know you're tired of my constant indecisiveness but this time the choice really wasn't up to me. Grandmother said she's going to see how much insurance will give us, Im assuming maybe around 7k if we're lucky lol and then we'll just move on to the c55. Her reasoning was she doesn't want to keep fixing it (third accident) because it's already a decade old, so we'll salvage what we can and have a fresh start.

I'm sure your grandmother would appreciate you switching to dedicated snow ties next time. :-)
All seasons are really like kissing your sister.

Yeah, I'm sure the resolution with insurance will help clarify things.

You have issues driving a c240 4matic and think a c55 is a good idea?? First thing to do is get snow tires for whatever car you drive next be it the c240 or something new. I live in VA and have a summer set and Winter set of rims/tires so when we do get nasty weather I can move around safely. Remember keep your speed down in bad weather you could have easily killed someone.
How many miles are on the car? That will be the only thing helping you get decent money out of the car. If it has higher miles arguing with them over price is going to be tough. Hopefully your have better luck with your next car.

Not to come off as rude but I've been driving in the snowiest city in the US for three years now; VA and Syracuse are not comparable when it comes to weather believe me. It's just the interstate which I travel (81) to and from jersey is in my eyes the worst maintained that i've driven on so far and what amazes me is they are always doing some sort of construction . There were ten accidents I saw within the first major city (Binghamton) ranging from suvs sliding into the brush in the middle to an 18 wheeler into the woods so that just goes to show what kind of road/weather I was dealing with.

As for the mileage, she's at about 112k. I wouldn't argue with the insurance company unless they significantly decreased the amount from the previous which was 8k. If we get something close to that I'd be more than happy to spend a few bucks on a nice clk500. Don't really want another 4matic because I plan to relocate either in CA or FL after grad. Thanks for the well wishes.

In that case sounds like your insurance company will give you what you want. Keep us updated on what they decide to do for you.

Yeah they've always helped us. Never been at fault in any of the accidents I was involved in, I just have the worst luck unfortunately. First accident I was driving up from Seaside after HS graduation and a girl from my class tried to race me and ended up losing control, clipping my bumper fishtailing me headfirst into the divider (scariest sh*t ever). Insurance gave us more than expected and that's how I ended up moving on to the beautiful girl I have now. I will definitely keep you all posted on what happens in the upcoming weeks.

Street racing is not bad luck. Thats just poor decisions. In fact, i'd say that's good luck considering, no one got hurt and you got a nice payout for making bad decisions.

Oh well, lots of us go through these kinda times in our lives. Bummed to see all the progress you've made on your car lost in the last two incidents Snow is terrifying w/o the proper tires - heck, nothing on 4 wheels will do well on a big sheet of ice.

I wasn't racing to be honest, I was just turning 17 and headed to Syracuse for Summerstart in the morning I was just tryna make it home. Jersey doesn't play with that they'll suspend your license ASAP! We filled up at the gas station and I was done before her so I just left. I assume she was trying to catch up so she was flying and wanted to race but saw I wasn't with it and tried to slow down but ended up losing control cause she was flying and clipped my rear end That's why the damage to the front was so severe, she hit me at like 100+ and all that force went straight into the guardrail smh. Just thankful to be here today. I tell everyone at school if they wanna see me, let's hit the track!

Insurance has decided to fully cover the accident so all the parts have been ordered and we ended up having a few extra dollars left so I'm getting the roof painted gloss black as well as the middle of the front bumper under the mesh and throwing on the H&R springs...should be finished by Monday so I'll add pics when I get back to Jersey to pick her up.

Congrats on that (assuming you didn't want them to total the car instead so that you could buy a C55 instead, of course).

Welcome back to Jersey. Enjoy the potholes.
