Unhappy Steve (MBenzNL), RGleason, Sunman, Richard...need help with nokia kit (still)

First of all, I wanted to thank Richard Gleason, Dr. Patel (aka sunman) and Steve (aka MBenzNL) for all your help, support, and info that got me this far in my phone kit installation. Unfortnately I still need your expertise. Just reminder, I have a 2002 C230 coupe with BOSE audio, no teleaid, no cd changer, no atenna switch, and no compensator, and no VR. Below is my email to RGleason:

when I went through it last nite it didnt seem like I'd need a professional but this morning when after hooking up the coaxial from cradle to armrest and put female to female adapter btwn the two coaxial male connectors in the right rear by the BOSE amp/sub (to those reading this is my reply to RGleason, the PSE and phone cradle are all hooked up already as well as the 4 fuses and 2 relays). For the headunit take out i decided to go to a pro shop (Houston Custom Car Stereo, www.customcarstereo.com , a very well known shop here). We investigated the trunk area and find several D2B connectors. I even had Dr. Patel (sunman) on the phone but the coupe layout seems to be quite different from the sedan layout (not to mention I dont have Teleaid nor cd changer). Here is the puzzling part.

After pointing flashlight on each D2B connection we were able to get the phone recognized by the car, but no sound. On the back of the headunit (both audio 10 and 30, there is a retangular dual D2B connector (L shaped), one is 'radio in' and one is 'amp out'. There is also 'phone out' and 'sound out' cables behind the HU. When connecting 'phone out' to 'radio in' the phone is recognized but there is no sound. When 'sound out' is connected to 'radio in' there is sound but no phone. I guess the biggest mystery is how can i get the 'sound out' and 'phone out' in the loop with 'radio in' to the back of the HU.

2nd part is the rear trunk/wheel-well area. I have the following connections (to my memory): 'sound 1 in' to 'sound 1 out', 'sound 2 in' to 'radio out', then 'SBS in' and 'SBS out'. Dr. Patel has informed me that SBS is the VR unit and should be left out of the loop (on its own). There is also a 'phone in' D2B connection. Now when i have 'phone in' connected to 'radio out' in the trunk, and 'phone out' connected to 'radio in' at HU, the phone is recognized, but no sound. Any idea on how I can tie the phone and sound integrated? Also Dr. Patel has a C320 BOSE system and the PSE is in the trunk floor where my PSE is where the BOSE amp/sub in the right rear. There's only one 'L shaped' D2B connector there and one 25pin connector where both conveniently fits into the PSE. Any info/light on this is greatly appreciated. Thankfully, the shop didnt charge me for the 2+ hours that I was there and I feel like if I may need another piece of fiber cable or something to loop the sound and phone in. Also, I have 'sound 1' and 'sound 2' where Dr. Patel's C320 with BOSE did not....

Sincerely,

Keith (Dr. Patel, thank you soooo much for calling me back over the phone, MBWorld is AWESOME!!)

Try this:

Radio out to phone in, phone out to sound in, sound out to cd changer in, cd changer out to radio in.

Somewhere on this board, someone posted the order of the items on the fiber loop. I've just spent half an hour STFF, but I can't find it. I think the above is correct.

Hi Lynn, thanks for the info but I dont have a cd changer. If someone have the schemetics for C230 coupe BOSE D2B setup that would be awesome. Or a balla who has v60 kit from factory....i'm primarily concern with the D2B loop(s)/connection in the trunk/spare wheel-well area. Thanks all.

If all you have is the phone and Bose, try radio out to phone in, phone out to sound in, sound out to radio in. Don't worry about any fiber cables for items you don't have. I'm guessing that you don't have Teleaid or voice recognition.

its working...thank god almighty its working!

Update guys: its working! After all the headache and ripping wires and D2B connections. Simplest answer is the best answer. All needed was 'sound 2 out' to 'radio in', both using L shaped D2B connector, into the PSE, nothing else! There's tons of useless D2B connectors but this did the work.

Although I notice that reception is somewhat poor with the car's antenna (still testing, driving around town, but its better definitely the phone by itself no matter where). I also notice my radioshack connector (female to female coaxial adapter) ridges are smaller then the ridges on male coaxials tips on the coupe (so connection doesnt go in all the way). I'm going to see if I can make/get a perfect matching F to F coaxial to get better connection/reception. Will play around regarding the reception and report back.

Richard Gleason (aka Dick) thanks for emailing me back and providing me additional info which led me to try again and think differently. I appreciate suggestions and support from Steve, Lynn, Dr. Patel (aka sunman)....all you guys and MBworld in general are awesome (i'm toying with the idea of VR module kidding guys....for now anyway).

Good night all!!!

*Oh I was wondering, if i put the Audio 30 HU back in place of my Audio 10 will i have more phone related functions other than dialing via keypad? such as SMS or phone menus etc??
