my chain pics...
So, a while back I posted a thread about deciding between two C230k to purchase. Well, I bought the 05 with 6MT and 121k miles for 8,300 bucks. The car was obviously well maintained, with only two previous owners.
Back to the topic...Within 24 hours of getting the car, I did an oil change and popped the valve cover (after it cooled of course)
The chain is taut with little play. I highly suspect PO changed it, but IDK for sure. I plan to change it within 3 months based on my assessment of it's condition.
The plugs were OEM Bosch and they were on there so tight I feared breaking them.
With the timing mark on the crank lined up, the intake cam is spot on but the exhaust cam is just a bit off. So far no CELs.
And now the question: does that orange thingy that the chain rests on look like its too forward? Should I kinda tap it aft or.......
Other comments also welcome.

Looks pretty clean to me, and the orange plastic "retainer?" is supposed to be like that so nothing wrong there., maybe the chain could be stretched though, if you've got the time and tools, it's always a good idea to change them before they go really bad.
When you start the car (From a cold start) does it make the clicking chain noise ?, this usually lasts less than a second, if you hear that, then it's probably time to change it !

No clicking noise on startup. Just some subltle dips in idle speed, which is expected since the spark plugs were fouled and the gaps nearly triple what the specs are. Trying to clean up the gunk from the spark plug wells today before I reinstall.
I have changed a stretched chain on a Saab before, and from what I could see this chain is is in pretty good shape. I am still gonna change it, just not this week...
