P0420 so I put a O2 Non-Fouler spacer. MPG better?

P0420 so I put a O2 Non-Fouler spacer. MPG better?
I'm sure you've heard this story before. Got a code P0420 (on and off) Finally decided to install a non-fouler spacer for O2 sensor extension. The code came off. Now, my question is with or with out the CEL on, Does it affect the MPG ???
