locking issues, C230

Have a 2005 C230 and the key fob is quite intermittent and the other spare died a while back (moisture drowned).

In any case, the FOB lock doesn't work but the unlock and trunk unlock on the FOB works intermittently. I've got two smart key replacements on the way though

Now, here comes the issue. Recently i was replacing the upper switch row buttons with one i picked up on ebay and lo and behold some issues appeared. By the way, i changed the whole switch module with the battery negative terminal disconnected.

The reason i changed the switch was because of the infamous button peel issue and replaced it for cosmetic reasons. Now, the new switch module, the unlock button works fine, the lock button really doesn't work and 'sticks' a bit. I believe all the other buttons are working.

Since i've done this, the manual key does not lock all doors when locking from the driver's side. Only the drivers side locks (security concern). I then have to manually lock all these doors (what a PIA). I beleive this has to do with the central locking system. any ideas here would be great.

Also, I recently changed the air cabin filter and the center vents barely blow now unless i put the full air on. Not sure what's going on here - maybe a blockage.

Working through these issues slowly before resorting to carrying back to the 'stealership'. Any advice / feedback would be great.
