CPS location for CDI engine?
Hi, I have a 2003 C220 CDI with 70k on the clock. Recently it's started cutting out straight after starting and then takes an age to start again. At times it also sounds pretty rough when idling. After reading on these boards and elsewhere about these symptoms, I want to try replacing the crankshaft position sensor. However, after opening up the bonnet today, the setup is different to the pictures in this post and other photos I've seen. The gap towards the back of the engine also looks a lot tighter with the diesel engine and I couldn't see where the CPS might be using a torch and a inspection mirror.
Is the CPS in the same location for diesel engines and is it possible to get at from the top?

Best to use a scanner to check for fault codes so you are not grasping at straws.
Diesels run on air & fuel so if all the filters are clean you may have to took elsewhere eg tank fuel pump or engine low pressure fuel pump.
I would have it diagnosed by a diesel mechanic as they have the gear to check fuel rail pressures etc. & go from there.
