Question Replacing front side marker bulb?

Hi folks,

On an '01 C320, how do I get access to replace the front side marker bulb? (Driver side if it makes a difference).

Looks like it needs to be replaced from the inside. I can't see a way to get in there without removing some of the inner fender housing. I've owned this car for 12 years and this is the first time I can recall needing to replace this bulb. Hope the replacement bulb lasts as long!

Oddly enough, I've also got a leak coming from my windshield washer reservoir; which seems to be in the same general area. Wonder if their related?

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, you have to remove the whole marker assembly from the bumper. IIRC, you push the assembly forward, and then you'll be able to pull out the rear part, then you can slide it from the hole (there are two prongs on the inside of the assembly that hinge out). But I may have it reversed; I'm having a blonde moment.

Either do a search here to make sure or crack open your owner's manual to double check on that. Once you get it done once, it'll be simple from then on. Once you remove the assembly, just twist on the bulb in back, and it comes off. I would definitely check the inside area by the reservoir, to see if the flud is getting in the bulb area. It could also have shorted out the wiring (which would give you the idea that you should check these things sooner rather than later!).

Yes, you are lucky - I've had to replace each side of mine several times over.

Finally a day warm enough to try this.

I'm shoving it forward, but, it didn't to want to pull away from the bumper cover. Tried sliding it backward. It moves a bit, but, doesn't seem to want to pull out. Consulted the manual and decided to be a bit more agressive. Got it!

Thanks Tommy.

Congrats! Yeah, with the trim pieces in these cars, it's a bit of a learning curve to figure out just how manly to be with each one right before they break. If you haven't found out already, the rear license plate bulbs are also a bit tricky. And don't get me started on replacing the fog light bulbs.
