2002 c230
02 c230 rear end ratio

I own a 2002 c230 with the m111 engine and recently my rear end went out on me. I replaced the carrier with one from a 2004 slk. Correct me if I'm wrong but my car has a 3.46 rear end. Does the 2004 slk have the same ratio?

This might help. http://www.slmarket.com/409/

Looks like 1997/98 had 3.27's.
2000 went to a 3.46 for manuals.
2002 they went to a 3.07 for manuals.

They aren't real specific about manual vs. auto vs. engine option. I'm guessing with the addition of the 17" wheels in 2004, they may have lowered the gear ratio. So you might be in the 3.46 range.

I haven't messed with a rear end from a Mercedes, but if they have a standard ring and pinion gear inside, you can count the gears teeth and divide. Or count how many times the drive shaft rotates for one tire rotation.

Also found some info here http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-gen...-problems.html
