Problems starting?! Not sure what to do

Hello everyone. Sorry if this is covered somewhere but a little lost and pressed for time to get the car fixed. Have a 01 c240. Has had numerous problems over the years. But has been sitting in the garage a few months now untouched bc didn't need it but now do. Put in a new battery yesterday and it was working fine. Now sometimes the car starts and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't start I usually get a clicking noise coming from the engine. I'm thinking it may be the starter but I'm not sure. Would greatly appreciate any advice or experience anyone else has had. Thanks!

sounds like the battery but you put in a new one, could be alternator or the cps.

Does it not start after it's been shut down briefly ? If so its usually the crankshaft position sensor that's what happen with mine.Like say if you start it first thing in the morning and it don't start that wouldn't be the crankshaft position sensor related issue.

Replaced the crankshaft position sensor about two years ago. It's just choosing to start sometimes and not other times. This morning I tried about 10 times turning the key with no start. Just tried it again this evening and it started on the second try.
