Loose trim on the right side of sedan: Covered under Warranty?

Hi all,

I just bought a 2004 c230k sedan, and when I was washing/polishing the car, I noticed the metal trim was loose on the right side of the car. I know on older cars that had a rubber trim, the pegs would wear out, and the rubber trim would eventually need to be replaced, but I can't figure out whats holding the trim in place, or how it came loose for that matter.

It rattles a lot, and I'm wondering if I should bring it in for service or if it wouldn't be covered? Also, do you have to bring it to the dealership that you bought the car from, or can you bring it to any mb dealership, provided you have an appointment?

Thanks all

It definitely should be covered by the warranty. You can take the car to any dealer for warranty work. You should check with the dealer to see what their loaner policy is, if you need a loaner.

thanks lynn glad to see you're still answering my questions

I feel like its such a minor problem, I would laugh at me if I brought it in. The trim is loose just on the right passenger door, and it comes off about a 1/2 cm. Would you bring it in?

I'd wait until the next service, or until there were some other items to fix under warranty. But then it is almost an hour to get to my dealer in the morning, and longer to get to them after work to pick up the car. And they don't have muffins to make the trip more worthwhile.

My next service is 7900 miles away.

by then, it either might be worse, or its possible they'll tell me it was due to something I did, rather then it being loose adhesive.

Anyone else have any trim problems?

I would definitely take it in sooner rather than later. Because of the location, they can always claim that you hit the door on something and caused it to come loose. It would probably be easiest to call the dealer where you bought it and talk to the salesperson, so that they are at least aware that this has been a problem ever since you got the car.
