H&R springs installed! '02 C230k (w/ pics!)

Here we are. I got the springs from my sister and some friends as a birthday present over the summer, but I didn't get around to installing them until this week. I got them done over at HW Motorsports in Garden Grove.

Here's a comparison shot between stock (when I first bought the car), and lowered (taken yesterday):

Notice that there is no more gap in the rear, in fact, it's at least .5-1" inside! The front fender gap isn't eliminated, but it's much more even all around.

Here's a pic of the springs themselves:

The rear ones look almost identical, probably just 1-2 coils shorter, but the front ones, wow! The stock one looks just flat out anemic compared to the new one.

Here's a side view just for comparison with your own cars:

As for the ride, it's definitely stiffer, I'm already being careful around speed bumps at my school. The ride isn't rough yet, but I'm assuming that the shocks haven't gone COMPLETELY flat yet...

Oh, and an interesting side-note, the thinnest spring pads were already installed on the rears with the stock springs, but since I had bought the new pads a while ago (beyond return period), I told them to use the new ones anyways.

But all in all, I'm really happy that this car is one step closer to cornering like nobody's business.

Nice!

Are those Sport Springs?

I dont think you have to change your driving that much. I have hardly changed mine. I still take bumps, potholes, and everything

How is your handling?

Every since I got springs and Pilot Sports with C7s my car handling improved by sooooooo much. No more ESP crap. Yet its still comfortable.

I think the biggest improvement was the switch to Pilot Sports.

Im also lookin to get some sways sometime soon. maybe H&R or AMG.

Yeah, they're the sport springs listed on the H&R website for my car. I would've opted for a cup kit, but they only have them for the sedan body.

The only adjustments I make to my driving are around speed bumps, since I'm more afraid of bottoming out the shocks than anything else.

I'm hoping to switch to better tires too, but I think I'll wait until my current stock setup wears out (hopefully by next summer if I drift a lot this winter), then get the 17" 5-spoke AMG rims normally seen on the C32 with a set of V- to Z-rated tires.

I have the Eibach sways on my car. I chose those because they were the thickest rated, assuming they're actually stiffer. I got those installed a few months before my springs, and the improvement in handling from the sways is very noticable.

My car stays very flat cornering, and it's so nice to hear the outer tires start to strain under the lateral forces when I took a normally 50 mph onramp at 70+ this morning (don't worry, I'm pretty familiar with my car's grip limits).

I thought the cup kit is compatible for both sedan and coupe, as well as coilover.
