Draining old auto trans fluid
Working on a 2000 model C240. Has anybody tried drilling a small hole in the torque converter to drain the fluid? Plan is to plug the hole with a small screw or pop rivet after draining. Here in Australia they want a king's ransom to drain & refill the auto trans.

Drilling a small hole in the converter is an old & effective mechanics' trick to drain the fluid, used on many brands of cars. So I am wondering if somebody has tried this on a C240. Draining trans & conv also assures that the trans is not contaminated with old fluid when the new fluid is added.
