Does my 06 have the balance shaft issue?
Hello MB gurus!
I am purchasing a fantastic looking 06 c230 with 100k and after researching it appears that the balance shaft gear is a pretty big deal on these cars, and the recommendation is to have the serial looked up via the vin. This will likely sway how long I keep the car. The vin on my vehicle is WDBRF52H86A910194.
Also, what is your guys opinion? I drive 60-100 miles a day for work, currently in a 01 TDI Jetta with around 200k. It is the perfect commuting vehicle, but it does have its issues and is not nearly as comfortable as the MB. Would I be insane to subject the Mercedes to these miles? If not this c230, are any MB models good at absorbing high mile commutes reliably without too much headache?

You need to move closer to work!!
If your in the usa sign up for http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/ Its free!! Then you can get your data card and engine numbers to see if you are in the range.
My c320 has 213,000 and it has been reliable and a really good car! Just keep the maintenance up and it will be fine as long as you don't have the balance shaft issues. You have been doing the transmission service every 39k right?
