Quick and easy question. . .

Thie flipwheels that control airflow on the dash of my 2002 C240 do not illuminate at night, but they do on a 2002 C320 loaner I was driving. Mine look like they should. I know it's a small detail, but I want to get it fixed if it's broken. Are yours illuminated at night when your lights are on?

That's another difference between Thermatic (manual controled AC and Thermotronic( digital controled AC). Thermatics flip-weels are not iluminated but you can change it by fitting Thermotronics flip-weels. The wireing should be there.

Take a look at the cars code card (normaly last page of the service book or located in hood top (sedan) or motor door(?))

If code 580 is present, the simple Thermatic AC is installed (without digital display). Thermatik is a controlled AC (air distribution and vent speed) but has no carbon filter, sun sensor and no iluminated flip weels.

Code 581 stands for Thermotronic AC with digital display, sun sensor, carbon filter and iluminated flip weels. Code 589, the booster for the back vents is only available with code 581.

ACs are options (Thermatic 1635 Euro , Thermotronic 2227 Euro)for the 203 in Germany and only the Thermatik is pre installed with the 5 and 6 Cylinder engines.
