In case you are wondering... I bought my EGR Valve on Amazon. It was the exact same brand as OEM.

I purchased a new EGR valve and found that it does not allow vacuum across the valve with no power on the plug. So I installed the new EGR valve, cleared the codes, and all is well.

In addition I have a clean MAF, Clean TB, New Breather Hoses, New MAF Seals, and a New Crank Position sensor. Should be good for a while now!
In all, I don't think I spent a lot solving this. Most of the stuff I did would be considered extended maintenance. In other words, all of that stuff needs replacing when your car is approaching 100K miles as mine is.

Also, I wanted to thank everyone who helped me solve this problem; especially tikara, samaritrey, moviela, quadcammer, blzdout, and 2subway.
Great Job with your troubleshooting Ordway, my C320 is acting the same way and I too was suspecting my EGR. I'll try your test you did. Do you know if its possible to just clean out the valve? I did that to my sons E320 and it seem to resolve the issue with his, or do you recommend just replacing it?

The quickest way to toubleshoot this is to remove tube b as shown in in post 19. If the car runs normally with that tube off, then I would replace the EGR valve. In my case it was the Valve Y31/1 that failed. I doubt cleaning would fix that, but you could try.

I'm a new member on this board. What finally motivated me to join was my need to thank you, ordway.dc, for your exhaustive work in tracking down the erratic idle issue on your M112. You gave me the solution to my identical problem on my M112. I also replaced and cleaned everything you did in my attempt to fix this issue, except for the CPS. Dismayed by my failure, I go online, find this thread, pull "tube b," and boom. Idle is smoother than it has ever been. A new EGR valve is arriving at my door tomorrow.

Thank you, again.
