hmm, interesting. so you're saying he bought the letters somewhere and put it together himself?

i was thinking i could debadge the kompressor from the trunk, and reattach it to the side. two problems though. once you "tooth-floss" a badge (which is the method i read about after searching on debadging, yay me) can you really securely attach it again? or is the adhesive hosed at that point? second problem is i'd only have the badge for one side of the car.

as i think about this more, i would really like to do this mod. anybody know where to get either full badges or just the letters with adhesive?

was joking, man!

don't know which badge he used, but you can just get two kompressor badges for the trunk from the dealership and put it on the side. Or if you want smaller letters, you can get the "V6 kompressor" badge for the C32/SLK32 and just don't use the V6 part.

i know you were joking. just giving you a hard time.

yeah, i think the trunk badge for the c230 might be a little big. the smaller letters from v6 kompressor might be a good idea!

do you happen to have a close up photo of your side badges posted anywhere? if not, maybe you would be kind to snap one real quick-like? pretty please?

question about your spoiler: when you close the trunk does the spoiler hit your tail lights? im worried about my tail lights getting messed up since i know of one person who tails are messed up from the spoiler...just want to know if its common TIA

I take it your asking about C Class 279's spoiler ?

if so, it's a RENNTECH spoiler, and if properly installed the ends of the spoiler should NOT hit your taillights. The fit snug and look tight, but there should be like 1/2 mm clearance not to damage anything.

* There is another RENNTECH spoiler similar, but in 3 pieces, with the ends of the spoiler actually attached to the taillights. There's a RENNTECH C230K Coupe down here in San Diego that has that 3 piece spoiler, and the owner was pretty bummed because he couldn't change out the old taillights to the newer 2005 version.

Yea im talking about the renntech one piece spoiler, a friend of mine has one and he showed me how when he closes it, it hits the tail lights, im just wondering if anyone else has this prob, im getting mine painted this week and im worried my updated booty lights might be damaged

Seriously though, I think whoever installs it for you, really needs to be careful, and watch the clearance on the sides. It might look tacky, but your other alternative may be to put a very thin slice of matching felt (or soft material) to the underside of the spoiler ends, so that if it does hit, at least it doesn't scratch the lights... It's a fine line, between a nice tight fit & appearance, versus a little bit of a gap, but peace of mind.

Wow this is an old thread all my new pics are on mbklasse.com. Anyway, I split the badges with a guy that wanted the V6 part of the C32 badge, and I took the Kompressor part.

me too, the lights were the first things i wanted to change, the old ones are so nasty... if it comes to that, i dont mind the felt, as you wont really see it anyways
