2005 C230 Parking brake adjustment
Just adjusted the parking brake and want to upload the steps with pictures.
Tools needed: 13mm socket and wrench; 8mm socket; flat head screwdriver
1. Pop plastic cover off of front bottom edge of the rear bench using the flathead screwdriver. There is a small slot in the bottom of the cover - gently work the screwdriver in and pry out.

2. Use 13mm socket and remove 4 bolts from brackets holding the bench seat in place. Gently pull the seat forward and lift out from the back.
3. Lift the plastic liner/pad and slowly pull back to expose the parking brake inspection point cover.

4. Use the 13mm socket to remove the large bolt, and the 8mm socket to remove the two screws on the rear end of plate.

5. Use the 13mm open wrench to turn the parking brake cable adjustment nut. Turn clockwise to tighten. I found it easy to sit in the drivers seat working the parking brake, and simply reach back to turn the wrench. I stopped once my parking brake would hold the car in the driveway (small slope) after 5-6 clicks hear from the pedal.

6. Reinstall in reverse order. Only took me 30 minutes, but I work slowly! Hope this helps.

useful. what im having problems with is the actual parking break release lever by the steering wheel. it is really loose, like its wire needs to be tighten. not sure if this can be adjusted from the nut like you did.
