Window Switch/button Broke Off.....
Window Switch/button Broke Off.....
So my drivers side front window switch/button broke off when I went to roll up the window. I guess I pulled up to hard on it. Pics Below....Can I just snap in a new button or do I need to replace the whole assembly? Luckily I was able to kinda set it in there so I could roll it up. It looks like the tab is completely broken off.

I'd try to carefully pry out the lower-left switch and swap it with the upper-left one...
They appear to be the same (?)
You have nothing to lose after all
My switch is also cracked (but left side) and on its way.

Unfortunately, sounds like you already know the answer to the question you've posed. Definitely buy it online; dealers completely hose you on the prices of those switch assemblies.
So I was able to superglue the piece that broke off and It snapped back in but I know its not gonna last. I'm not going to get the whole assembly if I don't have to. I guess a trip to the local pick and pull is next. I think I may try that VVF good Idea!
I got a good price at ecs tuning. I would check there as well. Good luck.
wvadam,
Thanks for the shout-out!

Good find Javvy!
$40 looks much better than $120
A friend of mine bought a Chinese switch row for his 2002 Passat.
Apparently the quality of plastic is on par with the OEM. I felt little burrs on the buttons (probably left from the molding process), but he said it's similar to how the original ones felt.

a good place to get parts is also from http://www.mymercedesparts.com or http://www.genuinemercedesparts.com
$105 for drivers side or $35 for passengers side from mymercedesparts here
a little more from genuinemercedes parts here
so may just need to weigh the shipping costs from everyone
It's best to put the actual part# from EPC into the website so that you know you get the right part

Yes, you do have to remove the panel. The switch is held on by the white tabs you can see on the sides of the switches pictured. To remove, slide them up (you can see the slots they go into pretty easily on the reverse of the door panel); to install, do the opposite, and don't forget to reattach the wiring to the new switches. You should be able to do all of this without having to mess with the door rod, which you don't want to have to remove; it's a bit tricky.

Ha, seems like somebody tries to make money on those switches: http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-07-MERCEDES-BENZ-C230-C240-C280-C320-MASTER-POWER-WINDOW-SWITCH-TESTED-/151351932165?_trksid=p2054897.l5661Also, the passenger window cut-off switch seems reversed (switch to the right to enable windows vs left for OEM) which is nothing

This update is especially for VVF, here you go side by side comparison.
The chinese master control door switch fit and finish is similar to OEM. The only difference is the image on the child lock button and the illumination light of the switch is slightly brighter than OEM. I like it though as it just states that it is the master control for all windows. Works perfect and has a longer harness. I would recommend it highly to all that want to replace theirs and save some $$$. Shipping was super-fast and am completely satisfied with my buy. If I have any reliability issues I will definitely report back to this thread. Some side by side comparison pictures attached.
Enjoy...
