Crankshaft Position Sensor replacement

Seems my 2007 c280 4matic is different then most. CPS had a torx screw female not the E8 stated in manual. But problem is can't gat sensor out. Tried penetrating oil and light taps don't want to break it off, any suggestions . Have clear access with swivel joint, MAP is off and can reach hand down. Just won't budge or come out. Any ideas?

Patience and it was removed. Turned car on and wow no check engine light. But again be careful of the torx vs E8 socket. Dealer in Pensacola with Vin number found what was needed.
Now rear brake line leaking above flex hose. Ugh but not bad for a car with 180,000 miles and going strong well until today.

It would not be the first time a tech replacing a sensor dropped the original screw and used what ever would fit from his "jar of screws" on the bench.

Went to dealer for replacement and with Vin number check they gave me the same type screw. The Chilton manual and local auto parts stores have the wrong listing. Word to all besides don't drop the screw, you may be surprised when you do your repair/replacement. Take pictures, be methodical and congrats when done, you saved a bunch of bucks so drink a good quality toast to a job well done.

Hadn't had to replace my CPS yet but I keep one in the glove box just in case. Anticipating the problems that you described I also ordered two extra screws along with some other stuff at a point in time where it was ordering parts directly from Mercedes. FYI the pn is N000912006066 at least on my car and its a m6 x 15 screw. Washer is N000125006449. Keep that sucker in my glove box just in case. It would be useful if you could post the pn on you had and the size.

cpk replacement

MB parts are fun. Need Vin to get correct part. If your sensor goes it will be fun ha ha to replace but you will appreciate a good set of tools. Once this was fixed, pulled out of driveway and down the road, breaks felt sluggish..yes driver side rear metal line just above flex line burst. $52.00 from MB part number 80 on diagram.
