2003 C240 Wipers Quit Working

2003 C240. went to turn on the wipers today and nothing. I have done a little troubleshooting so far and have done some research on the forum. I have not found anything else not working. Nothing out of normal on the displays. I have checked fuse #46, it is good. I checked it with a meter, voltage present on both sides. Any ideas? The wipers will not move in any of the 3 positions. Nothing happens when you push in to activate the washer, either. No fluid squirting, no wiper movement. Some other threads suggest the hood sensor, haven't checked into that, but there is no warning on the display about the hood being open. HELP!! It's raining a lot here and the forecast looks wet.

I did a little more troubleshooting. I took the cover off of the wiper On/
Off relay, (N10/1kR) and found that if I manually activated the relay, the wipers run. If I hold it in the activated position, the wipers continue to run. If I don't hold it manually, the coil remains latched until the wipers return to the parked position, then the coil de-energizes. This is telling me that the control circuit is not working. Most likely the switch at the turn signal stalk? Seems kind of strange that I would lose rain sense, low speed, high speed AND the washer fluid activation. Everything else on the multi function stalk works, turn signals, high beam, low beam, flash to pass. Any ideas??

Anyone?? Any ideas other than replacing the multi function switch? I want to get one bought so I can do the replacement this weekend. But, I was hoping to hear from someone that the multi function is probably the issue, or it probably isn't the issue. I don't want to just throw parts at it.....
