revstriker Mar 14, 2002 03:51 PM

Richard, congratulations!! I'm sure you'll be grinning from ear to ear!! :) Make sure you pick out a good CD (or Tape if you didn't get the CD option) for your ride home!! Or you could do what some here have done, and just enjoy the sound of your supercharged engine!!

Enjoy!!

Richard 88 Mar 14, 2002 03:59 PM

Thanks! I didn't get the CD because my dealer asked for $900. Is there anyone konws where I can find less expensive CD changer around NYC?

That's a tough one. You can get one from autoclass.net, and get a local dealer to install it. Or (what my preference would be), call several local (I mean NY, CT, AND NJ) dealers, and see if anyone will come down to a more respectable quote.

As Columbus said, we really need to have a meet this spring/summer - hopefully, we'll get to working on that pretty soon. I was thinking of something like Rockland park or similar, to try to draw in the tristaters.

Hey, that's a bad-a$$ color, too - my 1:18 scale die-cast model's in that color (with C7 wheels!). But I shied away from the special-order fee.

Congrats; can't wait for pics. Which reminds me: about time I posted some, had the car for, what, over a month now.

muscle4lew Mar 14, 2002 07:09 PM

it looks like we will have enough coupes in NY and NJ to start our own club.......just a thought...

just kidding!

b/c he is such a grand presence on this site, i'm guessing he's like sasquatch... you know he's there but what does he look like... oooh, a mystery to be sure!

shy and reclusive, in the deep forests of jer-sey, he posts his posts.

like the infamous big foot print, you've seen his forearm w/ the blue mb watch...

he is said to forage nocturnally for the wild herds of ta-cos.

Young, look at the first pic again...

The middle one's for you! :p

Just to clear this up: I'm not Pappa Smurf; Young doesn't know how to take pictures. Yes, there is a difference.

I really would post a pic if I had any, but I don't. Besides, there are women on this forum who wouldn't be able to handle my stunning good looks.

Of course, I've never been the local weathergirl on tv, like MB-BOB.

CD price

Richard:

The autoclass cd and install kit was about $465 delivered, and I got estimates of about 2 hours (~$200) for install from MB dealers. A couple of days before pickup, I called the dealer and told them I could do the changer for about 665 installed, but would rather get ti from them. The came down to $725, which was OK for me. That was in CT at Greenwich MB.

I suggest a last minute "give me your best price so I can buy it from you wonderful people who are selling me the car" routine. They might be willing to do it rather than see the cd sale go elsewhere.

Thanks for the input! Actually, I bought in the same dealer with you. Since I'll pick it up tomorrow, I have to call them and try to get the same good deal (they told me $900 today).
BTW can you tell me who was your salesperson?

toki999 Mar 15, 2002 01:26 AM

Well, as a hand model, I would suggest you keep your day job as an accountant. And, just to be fair, I'll admit that I removed my TV experience from my resume years ago! BTW, It was a small station... I did the NEWS (and the weather, too... and the sports...)

C230Komp Mar 16, 2002 03:15 PM

columbus,
Where'd you get the model with the C7 wheel package? Ideally, I'd like a red model with the wheels.

I got mine at the Manhattan dealership early this year (Feb). It's a Maisto model. The dealer in South Jersey where I picked up the life-sized one had an orion-blue with the standard wheels.
You may have to re-paint it yourself.

They're available on the mbusa.com web site, but you can't specify which wheels you prefer - it's hit or miss. So your best bet is to check all the MB dealers in your area, or toy stores and Sharper Image franchises. Good luck.

PA/NJ/NY/CT Meet

tommy suggested Rockland Park - smack-dab in the middle of the Tri-State area. Just need to pick a date. Preferably when the wheather's more predictable - sunshine would be nice, especially for the foto-op. Otherwise, tommy's mug shot will come out looking kinda drab, which doesn't go with the smurf image ;)

Which means probably late April to May. After Easter. When's Easter again?
