Drive shafts
I replaced the left front CV shaft last night as I was hearing a clicking and popping noise when I turned. Needless to say that didn't fix it. I took it by a local shop and the guy tells me it is one of the actual drive shaft U joints. Is it possible to replace a worn U joint in whichever shaft it is?

I would say if it is a clicking/ popping noise when your turning you may have replaced the wrong axle.
Now as for the u joints, there are no u joint in the rear at all. They have flex discs made of rubber. Transfer case to the front there may be some kind of u joint but I think it more of a cv joint then u joint. I have not heard much about this joint going out even with a search of the forum not much info comes up.
I would look back to what front axle you replaced. I would also wonder about the quality of your replacement part (OEM or reMFG'ed).

Well after a little searching there are u joint in the front. So disregard what I said above about that.
but when you say the noise only happens when you turn i would still point to a bad cv joint and not the front propshaft.

Would the flex disc or the driveshaft bearing make a noise as if the cv shaft were out? Which one or both if bad I guess is what I am saying,, would make the same sound as if the cv shaft were out?

Any noise arising while turning especially a clicking noise is 99% of the times related to the CV joint. The CV joits rubber boot is worn with cause water, salet and debri to enter the joint area and dry out the grease/lubrication whihc will cause excessive heat and will result in a failed component.
