Now as for the u joints, there are no u joint in the rear at all. They have flex discs made of rubber. Transfer case to the front there may be some kind of u joint but I think it more of a cv joint then u joint. I have not heard much about this joint going out even with a search of the forum not much info comes up.
I would look back to what front axle you replaced. I would also wonder about the quality of your replacement part (OEM or reMFG'ed).

Well after a little searching there are u joint in the front. So disregard what I said above about that.
but when you say the noise only happens when you turn i would still point to a bad cv joint and not the front propshaft.
