did you ended up getting it changed at the garage, have you changed the chain only or the tensioner also, have checked if your old chain was stretched at all?

Yes the independent shop did the job. At first they were telling me that they were Mercedes specialist for such and such years but they never encountered stretching timing chains but I insisted so they replaced the 2 timing chain guides, Timing chain tensioner, upper and lower timing chains. The technician showed me the old vs. new chains and surprisingly it didn't stretched at all. Maybe mine is a rare case because the previous owner didn't replace the chains either. So I felt really depress that I wasted money but I realize I'm buying my peace of mind. Other than that, I requested to them to replace a lot of parts that could give me future problems like radiator (Valeo) the valve cover gasket, water pump, drive belt, 4 spark plugs, upper spark plug tube seal, thermostat and its housing, overflow adaptor pipe, gear oil, coolant, crank seal, A/C compressor (Denso) O rings, crank case valve, and vacuum pump. Everything is Mercedes OEM except for the A/C compressor that is Denso, which is a supplier of A/C compressor for Mercedes (base on the label).

wow that car should last you a long time now you have taken care of all the common parts, now its time to enjoy the car at peace, have you noticed any sound difference at cold start, i personally think that the problem is the tensioner and not the chain as much, because M.B has changed 2 revisions of on the tensioner and none for the chain as of yet
