2003 Mercedes C320 Coupe
Please help! 2003 mercedes c320 coupe electrical shutdown!
it all started with wrong battery terminal removal **long story** (positive before negative)
ever since that moment i have been having issues with my complete electrical system. the engine starts normal but then instrument cluster does not change and the radiator fan works at really high speed making a loud noise.
things that dont work.
1. Windows
2. Horn
3. Windshield wiper, signal indicator.....
4. the AC Dont work
5. almost everything electrical...except hazards and inner lights
I went to an independent Mercedes specialist and i was told there scanner couldn't communicate with my car and i was charged $210 for the 3 days of no result my car spent with them. Am scared of going to Mercedes dealer because $$$. I read some forums and some said maybe my rear SAM unit has blown out, I searched on eBay and found a used rear SAM unit for $125 bought it and it will deliver by Tuesday and i have my fingers crossed . PLEASE GUYS its my first time posting on here and i really don't know much about Mercedes. any ideas as to whats causing the problem and what i need to do.

Why rear SAM,.... aren't those things that don't work are controlled by front SAM?

MBWorld Fanatic!
My has done this twice, both times after a big rain storm,
and apparently water leaked in somewhere.
I was lucky as by some miracle in both instances, after a few days, the car seemed to
dry out and everything started working again.
I did in both instances have to have an SRS error cleared.
I don't know specifically what caused this but perhaps, if you were parked out in a big storm and water got in, park it indoors somewhere and let it dry out for a few days.
And yeah, if that doesn't fix it, it's probably a front SAM, and you can't just pop that thing in, you have to code to your car, i think. ???

First look at the list of features that's not working; why aren't they working? What's the common link?
To see what features the front SAM and rear SAM control, compare it to the fuse/relay diagram that's found folded in your interior fuse box (side of driver side dashboard when door open)! Generally, interior fuse box control interior items, front SAM control front items and rear SAM control rear items.
Front SAM is under hood by firewall above/behind front wheel - it's like a cubby hole that pools water when it's clogged,.... thus, check if there's any water there.
