transmission drain/fill, rear differential flush, fuel filter replacement STRATEGY?
So I'm planning to do these three, and since all three require the cars up I may tackle these together, BUT I'm not sure in which order. Any tips/suggestions for doing these all together? Seems the transmission drain/fill (dropping the pan) has a chance of danger b/c the fluid level must be pretty much on point, so should this be done separately from the rear diff and fluid filter?

The diff should drain fast.
I'm thinking:
- Undo the filler bolt in the diff, then undo the drain bolt, let drain.
- While the diff is draining, undo the tranny pan drain bolt, let drain - takes some time.
- While tranny is draining, refill the diff.
- Probably the tranny is still draining, so mess with the fuel filter.
- Finish up with the transmission...

Thx VVF,
You're like the only one who seems to participate! Everyone else is hoarding their knowledge. I guess what I'm looking for is that this is okay to do all together. My concern is if some error codes are thrown I won't know which went wrong. Saving time's good too though! Also, b/c changing the transmission fluid will change the viscosity and possibly loosen debris, I'm wondering if adding new rear differential has any effect on that. Yeah, that's it. I'm wondering about how one will effect the other, if any. Will a new fuel filter in any way affect the transmission vs. the rear differential, etc.

fuel filter has no impact.
rear fluid and tranny fluid will also not impact each other.
Realistically, with the exception of transmission fluid, the jobs you're talking about are very straight forward.
Hopefully you have the correct tools to properly refill the transmission.

Also the diff is purely mechanical AFAIK, so it cannot affect any codes.
The fuel filter - if aftermarket - might be garbage and cause the car to not start. Use genuine filter there.

+1 For OEM fuel filter
Nothing you listed should affect each other. Just make a parts/supplies list and double and triple check it and try to buy OEM/OES parts and approved fluids.

I think I'm gonna start from easiest to hardest, so fuel filter first cuz it seems the most straight forward, then the rear differential, then the transm. drain and refill. I'm not trying to save time as much as I want to just do everything right.

OEM filter is Knecht and can be purchased I think from like Rock Auto. Dealer will charge you 150 for a $40 filter.
I've used Bosch...I mean they invented fuel injection....
Mann is OK too though they've started making a lot of stuff in China and their
oil filter suck now. So maybe not.
Genuine Mercedes trans filter and seal, Shell ATF134 fluid.
