Help! ESP and BAS Malfuctions
. What does this mean? Do I still need to take it to a Service Center? Knowing those bastar**, they'll probably give me an appointment in two weeks. Is it safe to drive the car in the meantime? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Let's look at the safety issue this way: most cars don't have an electronic stability program or brake assist, so if you drive it normally, you'll be just fine. Besides, both systems are probably functioning unless the warnings are illuminated at all times when you're driving.

Nice attitude and language
I did. Thank you very much

Not sure if the below is the fix for all, but just had this happen the 1st time myself the other day, was driving real slow too.
Turned off the ignition, and restarted and gone.
From another post:
"the fix is a connector ,and a repair to lengthen the wiring harness to the control modlule.
the parts are on back order though.
just be patient,,push the rest button to clear message...
yes, it is inconvient.but will be repaired"
Some other people mentioned sensors, and other mentioned dealers who did nothing.
Did I miss something truely definitive?
Sounds like there's a lot of things that MIGHT cause this.
It hasn't come back since that one time.
The thing I DIDN'T find, was,
IS this something to be concerned about?
As in enough to go to the dealer for a one time occurance?
I'm due for my 3rd service in about 3 months....
already have a list.
If all you have to say if STFF, well, I got your STFF'y right here bud.

It does however seem rather rude, whiney and presumptious when they portray the problem as the end of the world unless they can ignore it. Jeezus...just take it to the dealer. Get a loaner. Relax. Or read the MANUAL. The brakes still work. Just no BAS/ESP. You'll live.

Since it could be an electrical problem, I guess I am just going to take it to the Service Center so that they can check it out.
