'03 clk 500. WTB slk55

Hood lift support

I changed my hood lift support this morning and now it doesn't want to open fully to the service position. Does anyone know what I did wrong?

'14 ML350, '13 C220 CDI, '07 C280, '98 ML320

You need to press the red button [on the hood support strut] and raise the hood in to service position.

I did that PCY but it doesn't stretch enough for the red button to go into the second slot
